Disclosures

Important disclosures

Both of our practices sit in heavily regulated industries, and the companies that got in trouble in each of them were the ones that buried this page. Here is everything, in plain sight and in plain English.

Not a government agency

Lumea Financial is a private company operated by Key 2 Debt Free LLC. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education, Federal Student Aid, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, the Federal Trade Commission, or any other government agency. We are not a loan originator, lender, loan servicer, credit bureau, or consumer reporting agency.

What we are and are not

We operate two practices: student loan consulting, and credit repair. Our credit repair practice makes us a credit repair organization as defined by the federal Credit Repair Organizations Act.

We are not a law firm, a credit counseling agency, a debt management company, a debt settlement company, or a credit bureau. We do not provide legal advice or tax advice, we do not negotiate down the amounts you owe, and we do not represent you in court or in any proceeding.

Federal programs are free to apply for

The federal student loan repayment, consolidation, and forgiveness programs we help with are available directly to you at no cost. You can apply on your own at StudentAid.gov, and your federal loan servicer can assist you for free.

When you choose to work with us, you are paying for professional consulting, application preparation, and ongoing support, not for access to any government program.

Your credit rights are free to exercise

You have the right to dispute inaccurate or incomplete information in your credit report yourself, at no cost, by contacting the credit bureaus and the companies furnishing the information directly. You are entitled to a free copy of your credit report from each of the three nationwide credit bureaus every week at AnnualCreditReport.com, the only source authorized by federal law. You may also place fraud alerts and freeze and unfreeze your credit at no cost.

When you choose to work with us on credit, you are paying for analysis, documentation, and ongoing follow-through, not for access to any right you already have.

What credit repair can and cannot do

Accurate, current, and verifiable information cannot lawfully be removed from a credit report by us or by anyone else. It remains until it ages off according to the applicable reporting period. We challenge only information that appears inaccurate, incomplete, unverifiable, duplicated, misdated, or past its permitted reporting period.

We do not guarantee that any particular item will be removed or corrected, and we do not guarantee any increase in your credit score or any change by a specific date. Whether an item is deleted or corrected is determined solely by the credit bureaus and the companies furnishing the information.

We will never ask you to create a new credit identity, to use a credit privacy number, or to use an employer identification number in place of your Social Security number. Those practices are illegal, and we will advise you to end any relationship with a company that offers them.

No advance fees, and your right to cancel

Consistent with the Credit Repair Organizations Act, we do not charge or accept any payment for credit repair services before those services have been performed. There is no setup fee and no deposit.

Before any credit repair services begin, you will receive a written contract stating the services to be performed, the total cost, and the fact that any timeline given is an estimate, together with a separate written statement of your rights under federal law. You may cancel the contract without penalty or obligation at any time before midnight of the third business day after the date you sign it, and a cancellation form is provided with the agreement.

Credit repair services are offered only where we are authorized to offer them. Several states require credit repair organizations to register, bond, or comply with additional requirements, and availability and terms may differ accordingly.

Results are not guaranteed

Eligibility for any student loan repayment or forgiveness program, and any change to your monthly payment or loan balance, is determined solely by the U.S. Department of Education and your loan servicer, based on your individual circumstances and the applicable program rules.

We do not and cannot guarantee approval, forgiveness, a specific payment amount, the deletion or correction of any credit report item, a specific credit score, or a specific timeline. Any estimates we provide are illustrative and subject to verification and official processing.

We will never ask for your FSA ID password

A legitimate firm never needs your StudentAid.gov (FSA ID) username or password. We will never ask you to share it, and anyone who does is a red flag. You retain control of your own federal student aid account at all times.

Fees

Your initial review is free in both practices and carries no obligation. If you choose to engage our services, you will receive a clear, written description of the services and fees before you are charged. Fees reflect the complexity of your case and the work performed.

Prices displayed on this site are current and subject to change. The written agreement you sign states the price that applies to you.

Not legal or tax advice

We are not a law firm and do not provide legal advice, and we do not provide tax advice. Forgiven or discharged balances may have tax consequences that vary by program and by state. Violations of the Fair Credit Reporting Act or the Credit Repair Organizations Act may give rise to legal claims we are not able to pursue on your behalf. Please consult a qualified attorney or tax professional about your specific situation.

Reviews and examples

Testimonials reflect the individual experiences of specific clients and are not a promise of similar results. Illustrative examples shown on this site, including any credit score figures, describe the kinds of situations we work in and are not typical or guaranteed outcomes. Any score gauge or figure shown on this site is an illustration and is not a prediction.

How to reach a regulator

If you believe any company, including this one, has violated your rights, you can file a complaint with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau at consumerfinance.gov/complaint, with the Federal Trade Commission at reportfraud.ftc.gov, or with your state attorney general's consumer protection division. Identity theft reports can be filed at identitytheft.gov.
